Unreal Technical Artist

About the Role

We’re looking for a Technical Artist with strong technical Unreal Engine experience to bridge the gap between art and technology. You’ll work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to create efficient production pipelines, tools and help optimising the projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimise and maintain art pipelines and tools in Unreal Engine (Blueprints, Python and / or C++).
  • Support artists by creating shaders, materials, and procedural workflows that enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Support others with asset integration (materials, textures, lighting setups, VFX).
  • Collaborate with engineering to identify and solve performance bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain documentation and best practices for art-related workflows.
  • Investigate new features that push Unreals rendering and art capabilities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints, Materials, Niagara, Lighting, Lumen/Nanite).
  • Proficiency in at least one 3D art package such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Blueprint automation, or Unreal Editor Utilities).
  • Understanding of performance optimisation (profiling, draw calls, shader complexity).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging mindset.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with procedural content generation (Houdini, Substance Designer).
  • Familiarity with rendering pipelines, PBR workflows, or shader programming (HLSL).
  • Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Git).
  • Familiarity with animation related topics such as Animtree or Rigging
